According to Dodger Thoughts, Schmidt goes on the DL to make room for the return of Tony Abreu, and Elbert will get the start on Sunday. It's pretty obvious Schmidt is done pitching for the Dodgers, unless they activate him in September to make a start in order to give one of the regular starters a rest (and only if a playoff spot is secured!) Only 3 wins total for the 3 year, $47 million contract that the Dodgers gave him. Pathetic. I'm sure Colletti is leaving this one off the resume.

I'm surprised that Elbert is being given the start. I expected it to be Stults (why does Torre hate this guy so much?) and hoped that it would be Charlie Haeger (who doesn't love a knuckleballer?), but Torre decided to go with Elbert. Looks like someone is getting an early tryout for the 2010 rotation.
