Juan Castro’s run saving play at the end of tonight’s game sealed a win that now gives the Dodgers a little more breathing room in the West as far as the Giants are concerned since the Rockies beat up on the Cubs. The Dodgers could potentially leave San Francisco with an 8 game cushion but there’s some crumb bum named Tim Lincecum who’s standing in the way of such a scenario.

Torre continues his mind bottling bullpen decisions, and while the bullpen looked solid this time around, I still don’t like Torre’s itchy trigger finger when it comes to pulling starters. Especially when the starter didn’t have an exceptionally high pitch count.

Broxton gave us a thrilling 9th inning for all the wrong reasons. To his credit, Molina hit a home run off a fast ball that was around his neck and if Castro doesn’t make that play, another run surely would’ve scored so who knows what would’ve happened next. I don’t know if he’s playing hurt again or if it’s just a bad outing, but that swagger Broxton used to carry into the 9th isn’t as apparent as it used to be.
