The Good, The Better, The Bad, & The Ugly

(My photoshop skills are non-existent so I can't edit the pic to match the title)
The Good: Andre Ethier getting the game-tying single in the 9th inning with 2 outs and 2 strikes to deny Lincecum the win and the complete game. I was resigned to this Dodger game counting as a loss this morning. Tim Lincecum vs. Jeff Weaver & Co. is a huge mismatch, especially in SF. But it brought me an immense amount of joy to see Lincecum get the no-decision and storm off the mound after being taken out. Ethier has temporarily moved himself into 2rd on my most favorite Dodger list, passing Bills and Kershaw, but still trailing Matt Kemp.
The Better: Mexico coming back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the US in Estadio Azteca. A loss would have been demoralizing for the team and seriously put into doubts any chance of Mexico making the 2010 World Cup. Not to mention the emotional trauma my USA supporting friends would inflict on me for finally beating Mexico on the road. Luckily, that crisis is averted.
The Bad: Charlie Haeger not getting a chance to play today. He should have come in for a couple of innings to replace Weaver, but Torre went with "experience" and went with McDonald for a 2nd straight day, who ended up giving up 2 runs. Since the Dodgers have the day off tomorrow, I'm assuming they are going to send him back down and bring Stults up so that Weaver can return to a long relief role. Also, Torre is intent on killing George Sherrill before the playoffs. He had only made one multi-inning appearance all year (April 24th when he went 1.1 innings), yet good ol' Joe has used him for two multi-inning appearances in the last five days. Please, George, just fake an injury so Joe can't use you for a couple of days.
The Ugly: Guillermo Mota for crushing my dream of sweeping the Giants. After Andre tied the game, I thought the Dodgers could take advantage of the situation and close them out in extras. Unfortunately, Mota gave up a walk-off HR to Juan Uribe! In fact, Mota has been pretty ugly in his last 8 appearances. 7ER in 6.1 IP is not going to get it done. Mota should have another therapy session with Brad Ausmus ASAP.
